The Florida Democratic Party is currently seeking an experienced training director to serve as the administrator of the Florida Democratic Party’s statewide training program. The candidate is tasked with development of the Party’s training curriculum, production of online, in-person, train-the-trainer and a full suite of training tools and delivery of trainings to Democrats across the state in multiple mediums.

In this role, you will collaborate with national, state and local subject matter experts to develop and design curriculum for our core audiences including party leadership, grassroots volunteers, Democratic Party staff and Democratic candidates. While the means to teach the curriculum will likely vary from course-to-course the position will involve writing scripts for video and self-guided training modules, creating worksheets and templates and writing lessons and lesson plans as part of your responsibility of developing all statewide training materials and providing training services at our quarterly statewide conferences and developing a statewide training network to ensure proper training of Florida’s 144 Democratic Clubs, 166 State and County Caucuses and Chapters, and 55 Active Democratic Executive committees.

Based in Tallahassee, Florida or Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This position reports directly to the Senior Advisor for Party Affairs and Training.


  • Prepare Florida Democratic Party (FDP) training programs for core audiences and adapt curriculum to online training environments as well as one-on-one training programs and train-the trainer programs.
  • Produce training materials, webinars, self-guided training modules and all core training materials for the Florida Democratic Party.
  • Develop annual training calendars and disseminate accurate information relating to upcoming training and development opportunities, and coordinate resources to ensure efficient delivery of training.
  • Work with subject matter experts and local and state Party leaders to identify training needs at the state and local level.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of existing training programs, and adapt those training materials to alternative mediums.
  • Provide support to local leadership and serve as a reference for training questions as necessary, including answering learner questions as needed.
  • Produce reports and feedback summaries to ensure successful achievement of statewide goals and objectives.
  • Plans and operates all training related aspects of large statewide and regional meetings.
  • Work closely with County Democratic Party, Clubs and Caucuses.
  • Develops a statewide training network of volunteer trainers.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Experience in creating training materials for large organizations, extra points if you’ve written speeches or instructional content for others to present.
  • Experience teaching others in a formal and guided setting.
  • Experience in producing multiple models of training including webinars, self-guided. training, in-person training and train the trainer models.
  • 2+ years of training experience, this is not an entry level position.
  • Knowledge of Democratic Party operations and campaign best practices.
  • Skill in researching, compiling, and analyzing data to report findings and develop improvements.
  • Skill in public speaking and providing presentations before diverse audiences.
  • Skill in developing standardized processes and procedures.
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to manage an online (webinar) training program and all relevant technical needs.
  • Be responsive and timely to all training and support requests.


  • Travel to satellite and other statewide locations to prepare, coordinate and deliver training.
  • Attend various meetings as assigned by leadership and serve as a support resource to local organizations.
  • May require day and/or overnight travel and non-traditional work schedules.


  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Some experience in video production and editing.
  • Prior professional experience working with, and managing, volunteers.
  • Are fluent in a second language.
  • Possess a familiarity with VAN.


  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and the ability to travel extensively at times throughout the state for more than a day at a time.
  • Must be able to travel outside of the state, often for several days at a time, to national trainings and events.
  • Office hours are 9:30 – 6:00, Monday through Friday, however, evening and weekend hours will be needed regularly.
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift and carry 25 lbs.


The Florida Democratic Party offers a competitive salary and benefit package with the opportunity for growth, salary range is $50,000 to $65,000 commensurate with experience including excellent insurance paid fully by the employer.The position is currently slated through December 31, 2020 and may be renewed for permanency.
