STATEWIDE OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR

The Florida Democratic Party is seeking an experienced Statewide Outreach and Community Engagement Director to kick of Florida’s field and community engagement activities in advance of 2020.


The Statewide Outreach and Community Engagement Director will oversee multiple regional community engagement directors and the addition of dozens of voter registration and field operatives over the course of 2019.  In addition, the statewide director will work in close contact with the state organizing corps director, municipal victory director and political team to prepare the state for a coordinated campaign that will be comprised of hundreds of field and community engagement leaders across the state.


Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • At least one full cycle as a statewide field director or engagement director or 2+ cycles as a field or campaign manager on a top tier Congressional campaign.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing field and community engagement staff.
  • Experience writing field and engagement plans.
  • Experience targeting and creating persuasion, voter registration and base expansion universes using modeling and on the ground input from grassroots leaders on the ground.
  • Experience tracking and measuring progress to goals and analyzing effectiveness.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with VoteBuilder (VAN), modeling and targeting.
  • Strong communications and organizational skills, ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks.
  • Deadline and results-driven leader.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, train and manage field and regional community engagement directors
  • Write and execute a data-driven field plan.
  • Work closely with county parties, clubs and caucuses to ensure all Florida Democrats are included in outreach plans and play key roles in executing plans.
  • Manage overall field and engagement operations, tracking performance to goals.
  • Motivate field and engagement staff to meet goals, including establishing accountability systems in the field to ensure that campaign goals are met.
  • Develop relationships and incentive programs to ensure county parties, clubs and caucuses understand goals, strategy so that Florida Democrats can implement a robust, grassroots driven campaign to support candidates.
  • Work with compliance, finance and executive director to ensure we are maximizing financial resources
  • Collaborate with Data Director to gather and integrate into the Voter File the best available analytics, modeling, and voter-identification information.
  • Collaborate with grassroots activists and staff on the ground to ensure that findings in the field are incorporated into modeling and strategies moving into 2020.
  • Plan and execute ID, persuasion, absentee, and voter registration programs.
  • With Training Director, train county chairs, volunteers, and organizers on various organizing skills, building the skills of our core supporters across the state.
  • Attend local events to recruit volunteers, talk about FDP, and build community relationships.
  • Ensure that all metrics related to field activities are properly tracked.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Are fluent in a second language.


Logistics:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and the ability to travel extensively at times throughout the state for more than a day at a time.
  • Must be able to travel outside of the state, often for several days at a time, to national trainings and events.
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift and carry 25 lbs.


Salary & Benefits

The Florida Democratic Party offers a competitive salary and benefit package with the opportunity for growth, salary range is $65,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience and benefits include 2 weeks vacation and excellent insurance paid fully by the employer. The position is currently slated through December 31, 2020 and may be renewed for permanency.
