STATEWIDE MUNICIPAL VICTORY PROGRAM (MVP) DIRECTOR

The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is seeking an experienced campaign manager to head up the Florida Democratic Party Municipal Victory Program (MVP).


The MVP Director will develop a statewide strategy for investing in municipal elections, will work to recruit quality candidates, set up a core “offering program” which will outline categories of support municipal candidates can expect from FDP. The MVP Director will also manage a six-figure budget dedicated to electing Democrats to municipal, countywide and Supervisor of Elections seats across the state.


In addition, the MVP Director will work closely with the State Organizing Corps Director, Training Director and Political Team to develop a program that will help to build a bench of Democratic candidates and campaigners across the state.


Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • At least one full cycle as a campaign manager at the Congressional level or above.
  • Experience managing municipal and countywide.
  • Significant experience in developing campaign plans, campaign win numbers and campaign budgets.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing field staff.
  • Experience targeting and creating persuasion, voter registration and base expansion universes using modeling and on the ground input from grassroots leaders on the ground.
  • Experience tracking and measuring progress to goals and analyzing effectiveness.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with VoteBuilder (VAN), with the ability to understand and incorporate external modeling.
  • Strong communications and organizational skills, ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks.
  • Deadline and results-driven leader.
  • Play a key role in working with County Parties, progressive organizations that are not part of the Democratic Party and local clubs and caucuses to identify and recruit local candidates who can win to run for office.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring, training and managing of field and campaign staff for key municipals elections.
  • Write and execute a data-driven campaign and field plan for key municipal elections.
  • Work closely with county parties, clubs and caucuses to ensure all Florida Democrats can participate in the election of Democrats at the municipal level.
  • Work closely with campaign leadership, county parties, clubs and caucuses to track overall field and engagement operations, as well as progress to goals for key municipal races.
  • Motivate campaign, field and engagement staff to meet goals, including establishing accountability systems in the field to ensure that campaign goals are met.
  • Develop core training and candidate recruitment packages for municipal candidates.
  • Work with compliance, finance and executive director to ensure we are maximizing financial resources.
  • Collaborate with Data Director to gather and integrate into the Voter File the best available analytics, modeling, and voter-identification information.
  • Collaborate with grassroots activists and staff on the ground to ensure that findings in the field are incorporated into modeling and strategies for current and future municipal elections.
  • Plan and execute ID, persuasion, absentee, and voter registration programs.
  • With Training Director, develop a training program and modules for first-time campaign staff and candidates.
  • Attend local events to recruit candidates, campaign staff and volunteers, talk about FDP, and build community relationships.
  • Ensure that all metrics related to MVP are properly tracked.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Are fluent in a second language and experience managing campaigns in Florida.


Logistics:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and the ability to travel extensively at times throughout the state for more than a day at a time.
  • Must be able to travel outside of the state, often for several days at a time, to national trainings and events.
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Position is located in Fort Lauderdale and all applicants must be willing to relocate in order to accept the position.


Salary & Benefits:

The Florida Democratic Party offers a competitive salary and benefit package with the opportunity for growth, salary range is $55,000 to $70,000 commensurate with experience and benefits include 2 weeks-vacation and excellent insurance paid fully by the employer. The position is currently slated through December 31, 2020 and may be renewed for permanency.
