The Florida Democratic Party is growing our team in advance of 2020 and hiring Community Engagement Directors (CEDs) to work directly with volunteers, elected officials and local Party leaders with a goal of organizing communities, building relationships with partner organizations and ultimately expanding the Democratic base through voter registration, events and coalition building.

These Directors will focus primarily on party building efforts, expanding volunteer capacity, voter contact, training, and building infrastructure across their regions.

CEDs will use their own independent judgment to create community engagement plans specific to their region, and have broad discretion to determine how to best grow and expand the party to ensure our immediate electoral, and long-term growth and success as a party.

Description of Duties

  • Serving as the face of the Florida Democratic Party in your region and representing the Party at local events
  • Execute robust voter registration and Vote By Mail programs with local clubs, caucuses and County Party to increase Democratic voter turnout in 2020.
  • Support chartered FDP Clubs and Caucuses in their efforts to establish new chapters and increase membership and engagement with the Party
  • Work with County Party’s to expand our statewide precinct development model to build sustainable precinct level voter engagement.
  • Organize and execute regular volunteer trainings
  • Advising the Political Department on municipal, legislative and federal campaign progress
  • Create and maintain a productive and robust volunteer infrastructure
  • Work to ensure that regional goals are consistently met, with a focus on voter contact
  • Support the execution of the state field plan within your region
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with political stakeholders, allied organizations, and other coordinated partners

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong leadership skills and a commitment to developing a strong and supportive team culture
  • One to two cycles of campaign experience, preferably with at least one cycle in field or organizing
  • Experience meeting goals and holding others accountable
  • Personal experience with developing volunteer leadership and teams
  • Familiarity with VoteBuilder and other campaign technology
  • Applicants should be highly motivated self-starters and strong team players
  • A registered Democrat
  • Committed to empowering others to create change in their communities
  • Experience working collaboratively with elected officials, candidates, community groups, and/or allied organizations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortable working long hours and weekends as needed
  • Access to reliable transportation


The following regional CED positions are available:

  • Region 7 including the following counties: Alachua, Dixie, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla

Salary & Benefits

Salary is based upon experience and ranges from $38,000 to $44,000 with 100% of health benefits paid.
