The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is hiring a Municipal Victory Director. This positions reports to the Political Director and President of the Florida Democratic Party, and will oversee all aspects of the 2018 campaign cycle regarding targeted municipal races. The Municipal Victory Director will be working as a senior advisor in the targeted municipal races the Florida Democratic Party invests in. We are looking for someone who knows Florida and has a deep understanding of the unique characteristics of each region of our diverse state. Past campaign experience is a must-have; however, we are looking for more than just technical competence. A strong candidate will have the soft skills to complement his/her technical know-how, including a collaborative approach to problem solving, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders (including volunteers).

Responsibilities include:

  • Compiling and maintaining a comprehensive list of municipal elections
  • Coordinating with County Party Chairs and other relevant stakeholders to keep updated on upcoming targeted municipal races
  • Prioritize municipal elections and provide target recommendations to the President and Chairman of FDP
  • Serves as primary point of contact for all candidates in targeted races
  • Provides the highest-level of service for candidates including regular communications and trainings
  • Designs and implements a world-class field campaign, including individualized field plans for each candidate
  • Oversees Municipal Victory budget and manages expenditures
  • Provides regular updates to FDP Leadership Team
  • Works collaboratively with consultants and vendors on strategy
  • Builds and leverages key relationships with local, state, and national allies
  • Manages internal communications for all stakeholders involved with campaign efforts

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least two cycles on issue or electoral campaigns, with one cycle managing staff. Field, outreach or organizing experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
  • Strong, working knowledge of Florida demographics and political landscape
  • Strong leader who is able to inspire and motivate candidates and staff
  • Experienced manager with the willingness and ability to empower staff to be leaders their own right
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Strategic thinker
  • Experience and knowledge of mass email and text
  • Social media knowledge is a must
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Working knowledge of Florida political, electoral and legislative processes
  • Willing to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends with some travel
  • Committed to details, results, meeting goals, and consistent improvement
  • Ability to approach problem solving with creativity and initiative 
  • Experience working collaboratively with elected officials, candidates, community groups, and/or allied organizations
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to manage conflict, work under pressure, and produce solutions
  • Ability to take direction from multiple department directors
  • Experience with Votebuilder a plus but not required
  • The ability to perform and even thrive in high stress environments
  • The ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and handle regular challenges with a positive attitude
  • The ability and willingness to work long hours and weekends
  • Access to a vehicle
