Internship Opportunities

An internship at the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is a unique opportunity for hardworking, passionate future leaders. Interns can expect to gain real life, hands-on experience in Democratic politics, strengthen their understanding of the political process, and prepare for future political opportunities. It's also a great way to form lasting networks and memories while being able to make a difference in 2020.


Florida Democratic Party interns will be part of a highly collaborative, fast-paced and friendly team that will work alongside many of the major campaigns as we elect Democrats in Florida up and down the ballot.

Internships are unpaid and limited to registered Democrats (if eligible to vote). We will gladly assist to qualify interns for course credit and encourage them to do so, if applicable.

Party Affairs Department (Based in Fort Lauderdale)

 

The Florida Democratic Party is currently seeking 2 energetic, hard-working, and committed applicants for the 2020 Party Affairs internship. Party Affairs Interns will work directly with the state director on National Convention delegate selection, statewide event planning, and party outreach. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning January 2020.

 

Qualifications

All those with a strong commitment to Democratic values and an interest in Democratic politics are encouraged to apply, but the ideal applicant will have:

  • 10-15 hours of availability each week.
  • A professional and positive demeanor.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • A strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technological proficiency with Microsoft suite and G Suite.

Municipal Victory Department (Based in Fort Lauderdale)


The Florida Democratic Party is currently seeking 2 energetic, hard-working, and committed applicants for the 2020 Municipal Victory Internship. The goal of the FDP Municipal Victory Program (MVP) is to build a bench of candidates in Florida by recruiting and training candidates to run for municipal office. Interns will work directly with the Municipal Victory Program Director to develop and execute MVP projects including candidate training events, field programs, and 2020 surrogate events.

Qualifications
All those with a strong commitment to Democratic values and an interest in Democratic politics are encouraged to apply, but the ideal applicant will have:

  • 10-15 hours of availability each week.

Tallahassee Internship Program


Tallahassee interns will report to our Monroe Street office and have a wide range of responsibilities. They will work directly with senior staff and will be exposed to and involved with a wide range of party activities. The majority of the day-to-day will be research and administrative responsibilities with many ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications

We encourage all those with a strong commitment to Democratic ideals and issues or an interest in Democratic politics to apply, but the ideal applicant will have:

  • A professional and positive demeanor.
  • A strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technological proficiency with Microsoft suite and G Suite.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

 
Schedule

Weekly scheduling is flexible to accommodate interns’ other commitments, but interns must be able to commit to at least 15 hours/week.
